Thought for the week

Coming up to a week where generating and helping ideas come to reality will form a big part I thouhgt this thought for the week was appropriate. I think the reason why this quote is accurate is because really good ideas often do step outside of the norm and challenge things and to some appear crazy - at first.

"If at first an idea doesn't seem crazy, then there is no hope for it." Scientist Albert Einstein (1879-1955)

Thought for the week

This weeks thought should be good news for a lot of people. It is for me. I have the beginnings of wisdom (aka confusion) a lot.

"Confusion is the beginning of wisdom."
Greek philosopher Socrates (469-399 BC)

Thought for the week

I have been thinking a little bit about my career again recently. About how I am going to grow and learn, and a little about the next steps. The usual start of the year thoughts really. This usually starts for me by taking a look at what people have been saying about or to me. In reviews at work, on email, client feedback etc. And something always stands out as the one thing everybody says. Before you read my thought for the week, which in turn will reveal what characteristic this is, I would like to point out that it is a characteristic I see in many of my peers and mentors in the digital space. It's possibly what keeps me able to display this characteristic myself.

"Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm." Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803 -1882)

A little social media test:

Before I published this I put the thought on Twitter to see how fast this thing is at spreading the word. This obvious one retweet below was out within 20 secs, the next 10 RT's came in the next 30 mins even at 21:35 on a Sunday. Amazing or sad you decide.

Thought for the week

2010 will be a year of recovery, continued reform and hopefully a sense of a new start for many. People have been let down and this continues. Politicians aren't doing what they said they would and people are dying for what seems to many an unclear purpose. As we all start feeling more optimistic a sense of self will creep in and greed will dillute some of the good that has come out of 2009. I hope people will remeber they each have responsibility for what is happening in the world today and even if there part is small it is still vital. Happy new year.

"Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little."
Irish statesman Edmund Burke (1729-1797)
